“Having moved to an ‘untouched’ old cottage in Odiham in 1994, we desperately need to replace the kitchen as it consisted of a few 1950′s pieces of rotting plywood furniture and not much else. After flicking through many house magazines and coming up with some initial ideas we contacted a number of kitchen designer companies only to be told it was probably ‘too small’ a job as there minimum price was around £20000! So it was back to the drawing board and the search for a local firm who would be capable of taking our design ideas on board and provide a practical working kitchen.
Brian Buckland Contractors were recommended by a friend of a friend….and it was to be the best recommendation we have received. Taking our initial design ideas and drawings we were able to take Brain’s practical building knowledge on board and we now have a beautiful hand painted kitchen with storage space for everything (no detail too small…even down to a slotted hardwood knife rack fitted in one of the drawers!) at a fraction of the ‘designer kitchen’ prices.
But of course every new kitchen needs a place where you can sit, chat and eat, so plans were approved for a single story extension. Brian and his team worked their magic once again and we now have a super room which open up the kitchen into the garden…with a great new downstairs loo as well…and all this with minimum disruption to the rest of the house. T
Now of course this lead to another ‘problem’…the rest of the house then looks very tired! So yet again Brian and his team have been working with us to rectify this. In fact over the years there has not been one room (or garden wall) that Brian and his team have either renovated/replaced or repaired! Literally from ‘top to bottom’, from cleaning out the roof space and laying new insulation and roof boards, making ledge and brace doors and installing wall paneling, repairing plasterwork to walls and ceilings, replacing leaded light windows and renovating the staircase to laying floorboards and parquet flooring Brian has worked with us to completely refurbish the cottage.
Not only will Brain complete a project with the minimum disruption both on time and to budget, his many years of working with old properties in the Odiham area gives him great insight of what will or will not work successfully…making his input invaluable at the planning ‘what if we could..’ stage.
